Activité 1
On considère les fonctions x ↦ x 2 x\mapsto x^2 x ↦ x 2 , x ↦ x 3 x\mapsto x^3 x ↦ x 3 , x ↦ x x\mapsto\sqrt{x} x ↦ x et x ↦ 1 x x\mapsto\dfrac1x x ↦ x 1 .
Calculer x 2 x^2 x 2 , x 3 x^3 x 3 , x \sqrt{x} x et 1 x \dfrac1x x 1 pour x ∈ { 4 ; 25 ; 100 ; 10 4 ; 10 6 } x\in\{4\,;\,25\,;\,100\,;\,10^4\,;\,10^6\} x ∈ { 4 ; 25 ; 100 ; 1 0 4 ; 1 0 6 } .
Que deviennent x 2 x^2 x 2 , x 3 x^3 x 3 et x \sqrt x x lorsque x x x prend des valeurs de plus en plus grandes ? Et 1 x \dfrac1x x 1 ?

Les cinq premières limites sont de la forme « 0 0 \dfrac00 0 0 » : on factorise par ( x − 2 ) (x-2) ( x − 2 ) , puis on simplifie (pour x ≠ 2 x\neq2 x = 2 ).
x 2 − 4 x − 2 = ( x − 2 ) ( x + 2 ) x − 2 = x + 2 \dfrac{x^2-4}{x-2}=\dfrac{(x-2)(x+2)}{x-2}=x+2 x − 2 x 2 − 4 = x − 2 ( x − 2 ) ( x + 2 ) = x + 2 , donc la limite vaut 4 4 4 .
